Hi,

I’m a freelance copywriter and an online marketing consultant.  There’s a lot of old and conflicting information out there about what is good SEO copywriting.  And there’s even a failure to see the worth of a good copywriter.  Shocking, I know.  Some companies will spend tens of thousands on a design or a web application, and then a week before launch, bring in a copywriter.

The text on a web page is just as important as the colors and the layout.  A copywriter worth her salt will have very valuable advice on the flow of the information, what categories should be available as tabs, etc.

I just finished up with a client who said that he didn’t like my recommendations for having his newsletter on the website, and having his emails contain partial articles with links back to his homepage.  He said that he is not interested in having useful information on his website as part of his SEO strategy, and that he has a large team working on it.  Well, I have seen how large teams can drain the coffers, and the owner is left wondering what happened.

Good content on the website should be a major part of your overall online marketing strategy if you hope for a good page rank and lots of organically driven traffic.  Organically driven is where someone pops in some keywords to a search engine, and you (hopefully) show up in the first 2-3 pages of results.  If not, there’s a problem.

Read through your website and ask yourself if you can find useful information.  If not, then it’s time to look into hiring a good online marketing consultant to do a full web site analysis and get a task list of updates.  It could be the difference between $5000/month in revenue and $50,000/month.
